The legendary ancient drama Family Legacy will premiere exclusively on CCTV-8 Prime Time on May 17, 2026, airing two consecutive episodes daily at 19:30, with an exclusive online broadcast on iQiyi across all platforms.

Set against the back of the Huizhou Tribute Ink Case during the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, Family Legacy tells the story of Li Zhen (portrayed by Yang Zi), the youngest daughter of the eighth branch of the Li Ink-making Clan. Endowed with natural talent, she emerges as a dark horse who takes the Huizhou ink industry by surprise. When her family falls  hardship, she devotes herself diligently to mastering the time-honored ink-making craft, defying the millennia-old prejudice that "women shall not make ink". She aspires to revive her family’s glory and safeguard the ancient craftsmanship of Huizhou ink. During repeated encounters and exchanges with Luo Wenqian (portrayed by Han Dongjun), the second son of the Luo Ink-making Clan, the two shift from rivalry to mutual understanding and admiration. They stand side by side to overcome hardships together, reviving the timeless splendor of Huizhou ink. The drama was shot at iconic Huizhou cultural landmarks including Hongcun and Xidi in Yixian County, Huangshan City, integrating elements such as Huizhou-style architecture and Huizhou Opera.

As China’s first major cultural heritage drama centered on Huizhou ink, Family Legacy boasts groundbreaking significance in thematic ion, filling the gap that the intangible cultural heritage of ink-making has rarely been deeply depicted in film and television works. The production team specially invited a representative inheritor of Huizhou ink intangible cultural heritage to provide full-process guidance.
